Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are the hosts’ defense molecules gaining extensive research attention worldwide. These have been identified as an essential part of innate immunity in response to microbial challenges. The antimicrobial function of innate immunity is mediated by these potent, majorly cationic peptides having broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against microbes such as gram positive and negative bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites etc. AMPs are classified on the basis of their distribution, net charges and structures.

Uses of chemical antibiotics have led to resistance against pathogens, which is indeed a growing problem. So, the priority lies in development of alternative drugs and/or recovery of natural molecules for consistent and proper control of pathogen causing diseases. Harnessing and creating AMPs synthetically has the potential to help overcome increasing antibiotic resistance in many pathogens. AMPs have shown their presence in bioengineering and are used as a biotechnological tool for creating transgenic agricultural crops, biofuels etc.

The new field of bioinformatics, combinatorial libraries, high throughput screening, peptidomimetics, biophysics and structural biology are highly applied for AMPs.  This database has antimicrobial peptides from cattle and also other Bovidae family. The server predicts N-terminal, C-terminal and full sequence for the antimicrobial property of bovidae (cattle) family. This server is based on Support Vector Machine (SVM) with accuracy of 98%.
