Welcome to Vigna Microsatellite Database

Simple sequence repeats (SSRs), also known as microsatellite are the codominant markers which plays an important role in biological functions. Molecular markers play extensively role in marker-assisted selection (MAS), species identification, fingerprinting, diversity evaluation and gene mapping for crop improvement. SSR markers are highly polymorphic as it is depend on number of tandem repeats. There are high chances of dissimilarity in number of repeats between species or individuals, thus this leads to the chance of getting high polymorphism between two respective individuals. VigSatDB (Vigna Microsatellite database), a web based relational database contains 876219 in-silico predicted markers which contain 772354 simple markers and 103865 compound markers were mined from seven assemblies of three Vigna species viz. Vigna radiata (Mung bean), Vigna angularis (adzuki bean) and Vigna unguiculata (Cowpea). Also it contains 1976 markers from published literature in common platform using MySQL, Apache and PHP. Multiple search parameters like chromosome number, repeat type, microsatellite type, microsatellite length, copy number, location and pattern of the repeat motif given for marker retrieval. This database will be useful for breeders or researchers who are working vigna species for developing and implementing new approaches to accelerate the productivity of crop improvement.
